The $5,000-to-win, season finale at the 1/2 mile oval drew a strong field of thirty-eight Super Late Models. Dustin drew the seventh starting spot for his heat race before charging to a second place finish behind Eric Wells. With passing points determining the feature line-up, Linville was locked into fourth starting spot on the grid.

When the race went green, Dustin began to progressively work his way forward and would take control from early leader, Scott James on lap eleven. James would assume the position again one circuit later as Jason Jameson entered the mix to make for a three-way battle for the top spot.

The trio went to battle over the next ten laps before James started to fade and eventually made contact with the outside wall to end his chances at the victory. Twelfth starting Kent Robinson took his turn out front on lap 24 and would hold the position until Linville took control again with ten laps remaining.

As the laps were quickly winding down Dustin continued to show the way with a hard charging Jameson now in tow. Jameson had closed on the bumper of Linville as the white flag was displayed. As the duo entered turn three Jameson would slide by Linville, but Linville would dive to the inside off turn four. The two made contact as they raced down the front stretch door-to-door. At the checkered flag it was Jameson who crossed the finish line first while Linville settled in second. Ken Robinson, James Rice and Eric Wells rounded out the top five finishers.

Dustin Linville Competes in Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth
1(October 19th, 2014) Dustin Linville and the #D8 team made the trip to Portsmouth Raceway Park (Portsmouth, Ohio) over the weekend for the 34th Annual Dirt Track World Championship.

A talented field of eighty-nine entries filled the pit area at the 3/8 mile oval for the $50,000-to-win program, which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS). Via time trials on Friday night Dustin locked into the third starting spot for his heat race. He settled to a fourth place finish, which left him on spot short of the transfer and sent him to a b-main on Saturday.

Rain on Saturday would however force the program to be pushed to Sunday afternoon. Dustin stormed to a b-main victory from his front-row starting spot, earning him the 21st starting position on the grid for the 100 lap finale. Passing would become difficult in the main event, and in an effort to save his equipment Linville retired on lap 63 to a 25th place finish.
