Dustin Linville made his return to racing on Saturday night with a trip to Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. (Brandon Murray photo)As drivers ease back into competition amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, no spectators were allowed in the grandstands and teams followed social distancing protocols.
A strong field of 36 entries were on hand for the Boyd’s Dirt Showdown. Dustin started the night by qualifying 14th in his time trial group. The Top-8 from each group were locked into the 50-lap main event with the balance going to two preliminary heat races. Linville went on to finish sixth in his heat race, but with only the Top-4 advancing to the $5,000-to-win feature, his night would come to an early end.
Following the event, Linville made this statement to his loyal fans and supporters: “I’m very thankful for each and every one of you for sticking with me through the good, the bad, the highs, and the lows. Somewhat obvious, we are towards the lower end of the valley with things right now, but all we can do is scratch our way back to the top from this point forward! We’re racing and we’re enjoying the sport of racing like we all once did before, we have good supporters behind us, and we’ve proved in the past that we can compete with any and all and put this D8 machine in victory lane time and time again. We obviously have somethings to diagnose and changes to be made, but the determination is stronger than ever! We will see you all again soon! Stay healthy and stay safe!”
