(May 3, 2014) With the scheduled Southern 100 at Southern Ohio Speedway (Wheelersburg, Ohio) being nixed by Mother Nature, the team made the decision to stay close to home over the weekend. Linville returned to familiar territory, competing in a doubleheader at his home track of Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Kentucky).
A Weekly Racing Series event would kick off the weekend on Friday night as a modest eleven entries were on hand for the program. Dustin posted the fastest time overall during qualifications and went on to win his heat race, earning him the pole position for the feature. In the main event Linville was battling near the front of the back when mechanical issues sent him sailing into the outside wall, leaving his #D8 Swartz Race Cars Super Late Model with heavy right front damage. As a result his night was brought to an early end and a disappointing ninth place finish.
Saturday night saw the winner's check increase to $2,500 for the annual Pete Abell Memorial, and fourteen competitors signed in to chase the win. Much like the night before Dustin set the overall fast time, and later finished fourth in his heat race to lock into the seventh starting spot for the 35 lap finale. When the race went green, Linville wasted no time in his charge to front. He had made his way into the top five before mechanical issues plagued the team once again, leaving him with no brakes and a flat right rear tire. The team hustled under caution to make repairs and Linville was able to rejoin the tail of the field. Despite his loss of brakes, the Rooster sliced through the field to salvage a fifth place finish behind race winner, Victor Lee, Mike Marlar, Michael Asberry, and Brad Neat.
